Final weeks, 2011 New Hampshire Woodcock Season

Two feet of snow fell right during the peak of migration and shut down the hunting.  There were some woodcock around the seeps, under the pines, and along the river bottoms, but they were few and far between.  We saw some grouse that came down off of the mountains but not a lot.  It was a fitting end to a great season, and we had a lot of fun and good dog work since we began in Canada in late September.  Time to find some other birds to chase!
