Wyoming is just now getting to manage their wolf herds to keep the population in check, and now they’re moving on to a bigger animal on the Endangered Species List.
According to the Outdoor Hub, Wyoming Governor Matt Mead recently wrote to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar asking him to expedite the delisting process for grizzly bears in the Yellowstone area to remove protections within the next two years. Mead’s letter cites grizzly bear scientists have found that they have “unquestionably recovered within the Yellowstone Ecosystem.”
Grizzly bear conservation has cost the state about $35 million over the past 28 years and four human fatalities in two years.
