Corey Cogdell is getting a lot of attention at the 2012 Olympic Games. She’s shown up in Rolling Stone, and has graced lists of the sexiest Olympic athletes.
Unfortunately for Cogdell, the attention has brought out the crazies.
Cogdell is not ashamed of her hunting past. She grew up in Alaska where wild game was what’s for dinner, hunting and fishing with her father and her sister. It was hunting that lead her to competitive shooting, which lead her to the bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. But, the rabid animal rights groups, not knowing the difference between ethical hunting and poaching, and never taking an ounce of time to learn anything and relying on their blind, uneducated opinions, started berating Cogdell with nasty comments and death threats.
Something that has always amazed me with these violent animal rights groups is that they’ll issue a death threat to a human, but think it’s murder to humanely kill an animal that provides you with food for your family.
Cogdell gave a great statement on her Facebook page defending her hunting. Unfortunately, the comments have become so terrible that she decided to take down her fan page. It will be missed, as she always had great photos and stories to share. You can follow her on Twitter, though.
She should know that for every rabid anti out there, there are more in support of her, rooting her on. We all know the role that hunters play in creating better opportunities for animals to survive the many raising threats out there.
We’re rooting for you, Corey! Bring home the gold! –Brian McClintock
