Jamie Lynn Gray Wins Olympic Gold, Sets Record for Team USA in Women’s 50-Meter 3 Position

Jamie Lynn Gray just needed a solid final round at the Olympic 50-meter, 3-position air rifle competition to take the gold. Earlier on Saturday, August 4, she set the Olympic Record in the qualifying round with a score of 592 points. In the final round, her 10 shots netted her a 99.9, the highest score of the round, and the gold medal for Team USA.

Gray, wife of U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit shooter SSG Hank Gray, is the coach at Columbus State University in Georgia. This is her second Olympic games and her first medal.

It is also going to be the last medal that Team USA women wins in the shooting events, which wrap up today. We end with two golds in a some-what disappointing trip to London. But, all of our golds came with huge accolades and impressive records, with Kim Rhode, the only person in the world to ever medal in five straight games, being one of the biggest stories of the London games. –Brian McClintock
