Heron vs. Duckling vs. Mama Mallard in Dublin Park

Animals definitely were harmed in the making of this post (which can be said for most posts here on GoHUNTn).

Photographer Paul Hughes was at Herbert Park in Dublin when he saw a hungry heron, unable to fish thanks to some flooding. But, the bird of prey found some new forage: a mallard duckling. The duckling tried to hide in a cage, but could not avoid the heron’s evil clutches.

The baby bird almost got completely consumed, but thankfully its mother swooped in to save the day.

There’s no word if the duckling survived the ordeal. –Brian McClintock
