Florida Chefs Battle With Invasive Species

Craving some fresh python? We’re guessing not, but if you are, some of south Florida‘s best chefs are going to compete to prepare them. And not just snakes, but other varieties of invasive species in the state that’s littered with them.

Lion fish, wild boar, and pythons are among the animals that chefs will be cooking up  in Miami as part of the first “Best Invasive Chef,” competition.

The aim of the competition is twofold. First, to introduce the locals to these species in hopes of building an appetite. And secondly, to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our environment from potentially harmful species. Oh, and to get rid of a few lion fish and pythons and feed some hungry mouths. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Fertile Earth Foundation. -Rick Bach
