Big Coyote Starts Identification Controversy

Big Coyote Starts Identification Controversy by GoHUNTn TeamIs it a wolf, a coyote, a freak hybrid of the two?

That is what many people on the internet were wondering when Joe Flemming posted this photo of a giant animal he had shot on the Bonavista Peninsula in Canada.

However, the big beast appears to simply be a huge, 82-pound coyote. In Newfoundland, this coyote's breed is known as the eastern coyote, which are believed to have interbred with wolves thousands of years ago.

There are still some skeptics though, and the animal is undergoing some genetic testing.

Co-founder of coyote Watch Canada, Lesley Sampson, says, "Eighty-two pounds is way out there…It sounds far-fetched…I'll believe it when I see it." -Robert Frawley
