It's not a record, but the Wild Sheep Foundation got a nice check from James Hens when he won their auction for a Montana bighorn sheep tag.
The tag went up for auction at the foundation's annual expo in Reno, Nev. The past two years, the founder of the Jimmy John's sandwich chain came home with the tag. James Liautaud spent $295,000 and $275,000 to bring home those tags.
Montana gives out multiple tags for special auctions for conservation groups to raise funds, including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. –Brian McClintock
