One of the first things you learn about cleaning a muzzleloader is making sure you safely discharge your gun.
A man must have forgotten that in near Fredericksburg, Ohio. He fired his gun into the air, and scarily the bullet came down on the head of 15-year-old Rachel Yoder, an Amish girl coming home from a Christmas party, killing her.
According to the New York Times, the bullet traveled 1.5 miles before killing Yoder.
The shooting looks accidental, and no charges are expected to be filed.
But please, remember that if you need to discharge your muzzleloader before cleaning it, do it into a safe backdrop, like the side of a hill or down a shooting range. –Brian McClintock
