When you're in a tree, and there's bears below, there's really nowhere to go.
That was the hair-raising predicament for Wisconsin hunter Randy Halbach Jr., who, while in the woods this past Saturday near Merrill, Wis., looked below his stand to see the wrong species.
A female black bear and her three cubs were wandering around his stand, and attempts to scare them off proved unsuccessful, for more than an hour.
Finally, according to News Watch 12, he was able to text his father, who brought some backup in the way of a police officer, and scared the bears away. Mr. Halbach reports he'll be back in the woods without hesitation, the next chance he gets. – Rick Bach
