It was 40 years ago that New Hampshire Senator Thomas McIntyre introduced legislature to make the fourth Saturday of September National Hunting and Fishing Day, an idea started by a Pennsylvania gun shop owner.

I love to hunt and fish because i grew up doing all of it with my father. I love the outdoors and find it all so relaxing. I'm not sure how much longer my father is going to be here because of some heart problems he has, so it makes me cherish these moments with him even more. I will be 9 months pregnant during this years elk hunt and I am still going to push through and go so I can be with my father. I hope he sticks around long enough to be able to have my daughter come hunting and fishing with us.. but if not, I will be taking her hunting and fishing and keeping the memory of my father alive.
