The mountain lion that made national news when it was hit by a car in Connecticut in June came all the way from South Dakota.
According to the Hartford Current, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection released the results of the necropsy, and the DNA of the big cat that was killed in Milford, Conn. matched that of a mountain lion from the Black Hills of South Dakota. There was also DNA evidence of the same cat in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The trip was over 1,500 miles, the longest distance a mountain lion has ever been known to travel. Most people wouldn't drive from South Dakota to Connecticut.
The last time there was a confirmed mountain lion siting in Connecticut was in the late 1800s.
