My first bowhunt was outside Kirksville, MO. I forget the name of the outfitter but from trail cam photos there were some great animals on the property. One of the other hunters, his name was Mike, got the big 130-class 8 pointer. I got a little excited and shot a small 2-year old 10 pointer [...]

Wyoming Antelope & Other Critters
A great few days near Glenrock, WY with Scott and Angie Denny of Table Rock Outfitters! Our group all tagged out on the first day thanks to the plethora of opportunities on big antelope. My buck measured 16-1/8 inches, on its good side anyway. His right horn was busted off but he had some serious [...]

Dan Hosford: Heeling problem solving
Excellent video on heel work with a young dog. Many times a dog walking at heel will drop its nose to the ground and sniff while walking. This is not good! Heel is one of the biggest primary training exercises you can perform; if your dog is sniffing the ground, he's not concentrating on you [...]

South Dakota: Johannsen Farms Outfitting
A single standing cornfield at Johannsen Farms Outfitting near Tolstoy, South Dakota. It contained, and I'm not exaggerating, literally thousands of pheasants!!! Simply amazing for a wild-bird hunt. Eric Johannsen runs the pheasant-hunting portion of the family farm (and it is, primarily, a working farm) and doesn't stock. He believes good habitat will foster high bird [...]

South Dakota Pheasants
Some shots from this year's trip to South Dakota. We hunted the Aberdeen area, which is the best place in the state to hunt (estimates of 200+ birds per square mile). It was a combination hunt of public lands and a private-land hunt at Johannsen Farms Outfitters near Tolstoy, SD.

Great Salt Lake swans
Second trip to the Great Salt Lake in as many years. Fantastic place, with incredible people. Weather made hunting tough this year; however, we harvested our swan, along with several different species of puddlers and divers
Iowa whitetails – Late muzzleloader
Hunted whitetails in Linn County, Iowa, last night, as part of our late muzzleloader season. No deer movement until right at legal shooting time, then saw group of seven (7) and group of 19 while leaving property. Snow all but gone, thanks to temperatures in the high 40s/low 50s late last week, along with rain. [...]

Alberta Whitetail and Mule Deer Trophies
Alberta has some of the biggest whitetail and mule deer bucks in North America. The deer have huge bodies and very thick antlers with a lot of character. Here are some of the highlights from Livin' the Dream Production's whitetail and mule deer trips from over the years.
