South Dakota Merriam Hunt

My first attempt to chase the Merriam Turkey was a HUGE success.  I applied for South Dakota and was able to draw two tags.  I booked my hunt through D & E outfitter from Colorado.  This was a non-guided hunt, they just provided us with the land to hunt.  I was able to fill both of my tags the first day there hunting.  My first bird was a hybrid Merriam, 22 Lbs, 9″ beard and 1″ spurs harvested at 9:30 in the morning.  After we were finished eating lunch we went back out.  And at 2:30 I was able to harvest a beautiful white tip Merriam.  23 Lbs 9″ beard and 3/4″ spurs.  South Dakota is BEAUTIFUL and i can’t wait to go back.  If any one is looking into going after a Merriam turkey I strongly recommend to use D & E outfitter, you will be very pleased with the results.
